Girls Leading the Way!

We are trying something new, and it is so exciting we wanted to share! Our Girls Project Coordinator, Hindaty, wanted to help our Girls Project girls build their leadership skills. Hindaty found a powerful female trainer and together they designed a wonderful training for the girls. We just tested the training in the first partner village, and it was inspiring! Check out the photos…

When our teachers are united for the same cause.....

We saw a great example of how our hard-working teachers come together to help each other do the best job they can when teachers from four Mali Rising schools joined forces at a Mali Rising Teacher Peer Meeting in the remote Sikasso region.

Another way to relax during Christmas holidays!

Thanks to our donors, since 2015 we have organized training for the teachers in all of our middle schools. In December 2018, the capital of Banimonotié, Bougouni, witnessed this theater, which was a chance for our teachers to refresh their knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching. Animated by a gift of perpetual quest for knowledge, 41 Mali Rising teachers left their families and leisure time to come and acquire the needed tools to improve the futures of their students.

Photo Update from 2018 Teacher Training

Last week, more than 40 Mali Rising teachers came together for 5 days of training and sharing ideas. This is all thanks to our generous supporters, who understand that a school is only as good as its teachers. Thanks to our donors, each Mali Rising school now has two teachers with more skills to share with their students!

It's Not Too Late to Give a Gift That Matters...Yet

It’s not too late! Really. If you celebrate Christmas and you’ve hit that full panic and feel you’ve left things too late to ever find a meaningful gift for the woman in your life…you’re in luck! You can still give the gift of 50 Women membership to your loved one, and the gift of an education to girls in Mali.

Teachers Helping Teachers Teach

At Mali Rising Foundation, we know that building schools is amazing, but not sufficient when it comes to ensuring real learning for our students. Providing good training to our teachers is one of the most valuable things we can do to keep kids learning. One of the ways Mali Rising Foundation helps our teacher is to host teacher peer meetings. Education experts tell us these meetings are unique in the whole country and makes our village schools different from the others

Food & Fun With the Girls Project

As part of keeping girls in school, Mali Rising’s Girls Project initiated a new activity that will allow girls to have not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge. This month, our session with the girls focused on "good nutrition.” The purpose of this activity is to teach girls the different nutritious foods, the composition of a balanced breakfast, the importance of breakfast especially for teenagers, how to eat well. The aim is to give girls the love of school through the preparation of new dishes with local products. Our dish of the day was bean dumplings and vegetable salads.

Youth Ambassadors Dive In

This year, Mali Rising started a new project — the Youth Ambassadors Project. Inspired by a high school student’s fundraising initiative, we decided to channel the great energy of young people here in the U.S. into our work. Our first class of Youth Ambassadors is full of great young people. And some of them have really hit the ground running. For example…

Building Grit & Resiliency in the Hot Mali Sun!

One of the very best days of our recent trip was without a doubt the day of the big soccer match between the Beneko Birds and the Simidji Girls. These two village teams are made up of members of our Girls Groups in two of our three pilot villages for the Girls Project. Sports, and soccer in particular, are an important part of the Project — building grit and resiliency in our girls. And oh my is it working.
