Share Your Expertise as an Advisor!

by Merritt Frey, Executive Director

Looking to give back AND build up your resume? We are looking for volunteers to serve as Advisors to our board committees. As an Advisor, you will contribute your knowledge, ideas and energy to the drive to bring education to great kids in Mali. This is a great way to get more involved with Mali Rising’s work.

The commitment is limited and short-term. We will ask you to join several online board committee meetings over four to six months with modest work in between. This work will usually take the form of working with the committee on a particular project in your area of expertise to create recommendations, plans, or other tools for the organization. Uusally this will result in a total of 10 to 15 hours of volunteer work for you. At that point you can bow out of your Advisor role or stay on to help out with additinal projects.

If you’ve always wondered about serving on a board, the Advisor role might be a great toe in the water for you. You can observe the board in action and learn on-the-job as an Advisor! You could even use being an Advisor as a step on the ladder to joining Mali Rising's board of directors if you are interested!

Advisor expertise needed in the following areas: monitoring and evaluation (especially of international development-type projects), story-telling and/or video production, corporate fundraising, teacher training, nonprofit board development, and micro-lending/granting.
