As a small organization dedicated to doing a lot with a little, Mali Rising is deeply indebted to our volunteers. Volunteers serve many roles at Mali Rising, providing help that ranges from one-time, short shifts at an event to long-term commitments of expertise.  For our more on-going volunteer positions, we like to provide a job description for the sake of clarity – if you are committing your time, you deserve clarity from us! Job Title: Host Party Host (volunteer)

Work Location
This amazingly fun volunteer role can be played by someone anywhere around the United States!

Purpose of the Position
House Party hosts help us expand our network of friends by inviting their own friends over fun a low-key way to learn about Mali and Mali Rising. You might have 6 people for a Mali-inspired dinner or 30 people for cocktails…whatever works for you!

Responsibilities and Duties
House Party Hosts basically throw a great party. Your responsibilities include (but we can help):

  • Planning what you want to do. Do you want a big or a small gathering? Do you want to just educate your guests or ask them for donations? Do you want to cook or do you hate that idea? It is all up to you and we have great materials to help you plan, including Mali recipes if you want to do a dinner.

  • Inviting your friends (we have sample invites and encourage you to use something like evite to keep things easy)

  • Host!

  • Follow up — thanks your guests, let us know who came, and how we can be in touch with them.

Qualifications
A love of gathering with your friends!

Commitment Expected
This is a one-time commitment…although if you want to do it again we’d never turn you down.

Training
We have support materials to help you host a great party. If possible, the Executive Director of Mali Rising would LOVE to come to your party and talk with your guests — travel budget allowing. Also, the Executive Director will be available for questions and assistance at any time to make sure you get the support you need.
