A strong community is built on shared responsibility, and the former students of Seguessona are leading by example. With the support of the Mali Rising Foundation, the alumni network organizes activities each year to encourage and motivate current students to stay in school. This month, they launched a clean-up day to create a cleaner, healthier learning environment for all.
A Collective Effort for a Cleaner School
The clean-up day was a collaborative effort that brought together students past and present to improve their school’s surroundings. Armed with brooms, shovels, and wheelbarrows, participants cleaned the three classrooms, the principal's office, and the entire schoolyard, inside and out. Weeds were removed, papers were collected, and every corner of the school was swept clean. The enthusiasm was contagious, with students eager to contribute and take pride in their school.
Beyond just cleaning, the event served as a platform for mentorship. Former students worked alongside current students, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a clean learning space.
