Boulaye Benefits From Teacher Peer Meetings

By Adama Kone, Teacher Project Coordinator

As part of our Teachers Project, we host regular teacher peer meetings to help our teachers connect with and learn from each other. Last Saturday, October 26, we gathered a group of eight French and English teachers in the town of Ouelessebougou. While at the meeting, I got to interview one of our hard-working French teachers, Boulaye Diawara from Jade & Gabe Mellor Middle School in the village of Seguessona. Let’s learn more from him.

I am Boulaye Diawara, I have been teaching French in the middle school of Seguesona since 2016, but I started teaching in 2008.

I am 34 and I really like my teaching job. What makes me like it even more is because I am always in contact with kids and enjoy helping them when it comes to studying. I actually appreciated the peer meeting because it is a great opportunity for me to improve my teaching skills by learning from other French teachers.  So I am glad I am took part in the meeting and without doubt it has been helpful to me. I just want Mali Rising to multiply the peer meetings so we come together as peers and learn things from each other even more often!

My favorite food is “couscous with peanut sauce.” I love that and I like to ride my bicycle every evening for fun.
