Ready, Set, Walk!

It’s coming! Miles for Mali that is. Funds raised by Miles for Mali walkers will help build our 2019 school in the little village of N’Goko. What is Miles for Mali? It is simple: In May 2019, we challenge you to walk or run the distance children in rural Mali villages walk to get to school in one week (40 miles) or one month (160 miles).

Denik Delivers Books for the Kids of Zambougou

I love many things about my job, but I have to admit that pretty much nothing makes me happier than the days we deliver textbooks to the hands of our students in Mali. Thanks to the generous folks at Denik, last week we did just that — handing more than 400 textbooks to the students of Denik Middle School in Zambougou.

Girls Leading the Way!

We are trying something new, and it is so exciting we wanted to share! Our Girls Project Coordinator, Hindaty, wanted to help our Girls Project girls build their leadership skills. Hindaty found a powerful female trainer and together they designed a wonderful training for the girls. We just tested the training in the first partner village, and it was inspiring! When our teachers are united for the same cause.....

We saw a great example of how our hard-working teachers come together to help each other do the best job they can when teachers from four Mali Rising schools joined forces at a Mali Rising Teacher Peer Meeting in the remote Sikasso region.

My Name is Siraba

My name is Siraba. I am in grade 9 at Beneko's Cliff and Nita Bailey Middle School….When I started middle school two years ago it was also the beginning of the Girls Project. Thanks to the different activities of the Girl Project, such as monthly meetings on different themes, the menstrual cycle, the meeting with women of different skills (women nurses, engineers), the women's football competition, advice and talks, etc., I started to set goals. Little by little, I started to love school.

Keeping Our Schools Safe & Secure for Students

Mali Rising Foundation is committed to maintaining a good learning environment for all students attending our schools. Sometimes this commitment translates into hard and dirty maintenance work, in partnership with villages. Our older schools were built with mud bricks, and these structures can develop cracks. We’ve also found bats love to make their home between ceilings of the classrooms and the roof. What to do?…
